Currently, Xheme has seven patents pending, three of which have been developed in conjunction with partners. Xheme’s intellectual property portfolio can be broadly divided into the following five categories:
- Compositional matter related to XMA (Patent Appl. No.: 17/390,199 )
- Application of XMA in the reduction of oxidation and storage hemolysis to better preserve stored blood and blood components (17/938,878, 17/263,526, and 8,747,907 developed with and co-owned by Vitalant Research Institute and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine)
- Application of XMA in paints and coating formulations (PCT/US22/81272 and 17/390,199)
- Application of XMA for polymers, resins plastics and packaging materials (17/664,253 & 17/817,858 in collaboration with the University of Bologna)
